Instagram Downloader - Reels, Photos & Video
Paste an Instagram post or Reel link and save the media at the resolution Instagram itself serves. Carousels come through as separate files. Public posts only.
One Box for Every Instagram Media Type
Reels, feed video, single photos and multi-image carousels all resolve through the same field.
Reels at source resolution
Reels download as the MP4 Instagram serves to its own player, with the original audio track intact — no re-encode, no quality loss.
Photos, not screenshots
Single-image posts come through as the full-size JPEG Instagram stores, not a downscaled copy of the preview you see in the feed.
Carousels as separate files
A multi-image post is resolved into each individual slide, so you get every image rather than only the first one.
Stories and Highlights
Public Stories and Highlight reels can be saved while they are still live. There is a dedicated page for it, linked below.
Audio-only extraction
If you only want the sound from a Reel, DownSwift can return the audio stream on its own instead of the whole video.
No Instagram login
DownSwift never asks for Instagram credentials. It resolves only what Instagram already serves publicly.
How to Download from Instagram in 3 Steps
Copy the post link
Tap the three dots or the paper-plane icon on the post and choose Copy Link. On the web, copy the address bar.
Paste it into the box
DownSwift works out whether the link is a Reel, a feed video, a photo or a carousel and fetches the matching media.
Save your file
Pick a video quality, or download each slide of a carousel. Files save through your browser's normal download flow.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Yes. Reels are handled as normal Instagram video and download at the resolution Instagram serves, with audio included.
Yes. A multi-image post is resolved into its individual slides, so you can save each image separately rather than just the cover.
No. DownSwift has no Instagram session and never asks for your login, so it can only resolve media Instagram serves publicly. Private accounts are out of reach by design.
No. DownSwift is a website and works in any current mobile or desktop browser. You do need a way to copy the post link, which the app and the website both provide.
DownSwift returns the largest file Instagram itself stores for that post. If the original upload was small, or Instagram has since recompressed it, there is no larger version to fetch — nothing is upscaled.

What you get for each post type
| Post type | What DownSwift returns |
|---|---|
| Reel | MP4 at the source resolution, audio included |
| Feed video | MP4 at the highest resolution Instagram serves |
| Single photo | The full-size JPEG Instagram stores |
| Carousel | Each slide as a separate file |
| Story / Highlight | MP4 or JPEG, while the Story is still live |
Carousels need one extra thought
A carousel is a single post containing several pieces of media. DownSwift resolves each slide individually, so you will see more than one download option. Save them one at a time, or grab all of them — but expect multiple files, because that is genuinely what the post contains.
Why private posts cannot be downloaded
DownSwift does not hold an Instagram session and never asks for your username or password. That is a deliberate choice: handing third-party credentials to a downloader is exactly how accounts get compromised. The consequence is that anything behind a login is invisible to the service.
Photos: expect the stored size, not a fantasy size
Instagram recompresses uploads. The file DownSwift returns is the largest version Instagram currently serves for that post. If the original upload was 1080 px wide, no tool can hand you 4000 px — anything claiming otherwise is upscaling, which adds bytes but no detail. DownSwift does not upscale.
